Ingredients


Custard:

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or half & half cream

  • 1 tablespoon sugar or brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon apple pie spice

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • One loaf brioche bread, sliced (2 - 3 days old)

  • Vegetable oil for frying + 2 tablespoons butter


Topping:

  • Homemade apple pie filling

  • Powdered sugar

  • Maple syrup


Directions:


  1. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, sugar, cinnamon, apple pie spice, and salt until smooth.


  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add vegetable oil and butter. Once the skillet is hot, dip the brioche bread slices into the custard mixture, making sure they are well coated but not overly soaked.


  3. place the bread in the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides. Transfer the finished French toast to a plate.


  4. Serve with apple pie filling, powdered sugar and maple syrup. Enjoy!
