Serves: 8-10

Prep time: 20 Minutes

Bake time: None

Ingredients

  • 1-1/3 cup sugar

  • 8 tablespoons butter at room temperature

  • 2/3 cup heavy cream (35% fat or higher)

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 3 tablespoons water

Directions:

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, add the sugar and water. Stir once, then let it cook without stirring until the sugar dissolves and turns into a deep amber color. (Swirl the pan gently if needed, but do not stir with a spoon).

  2. Once the sugar has caramelized, remove the pan from the heat and let it sit for 2 minutes. Gradually add in the heavy cream and continuously stir. The mixture will splash and bubble - be careful.

  3. Add in the salt, vanilla extract, and butter. Keep stirring until the butter is completely melted.

  4. Let it sit for 5 minutes before pouring into a food-safe jar.

  5. Allow the sauce to completely cool in the jar, then cover and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Enjoy!
