Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 7 tablespoons butter (cut into cubes)

  • 2/3 cup heavy cream, room temperature

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Directions:

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, add in the sugar. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring gently until the sugar has completely dissolved into a smooth, golden amber liquid.

  2. Carefully add the cubed butter into the melted sugar. Whisk continuously until fully melted and incorporated.

  3. Slowly pour in the heavy cream and whisk constantly until fully combined. Allow the mixture to simmer for 1 minute while whisking.

  4. Turn off the stove and remove the sugar mixture. Add in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and let the pan sit undistrubed for 1 minute so the chocolate softens. Whisk until smooth and glossy.

  5. Whisk in the vanilla extract (optional) and salt until combined.

  6. Let the sauce cool for 10-15 minutes. Carefully pour into a clean, heat-safe mason jar or container. Seal and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.

  7. Warm slightly in the microwave for 10-15 seconds before serving over ice cream or desserts. Enjoy!
