Serves: 8-10
Prep time: 35 Minutes
Bake time: 10 Minutes
Ingredients
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
2 small red bell peppers or 1 large
6 cloves of garlic minced
1 jalapeño, finely diced
4-5 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons mustard powder
1 tablespoon sweet paprika
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 chicken bouillon cube
2-3 tablespoons brown sugar
1-1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
4 tablespoons ketchup
3 cups tomato sauce or passata
1/2 cup water
Directions:
In a saucepan over medium heat, pour in a little olive oil and add the ground beef. Break it up with a spatula and cook until browned. Drain the excess grease.
Add a diced onion, bell pepper and jalapeno into the pan. Stir in salt and black pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are softened.
Stir in the garlic, brown sugar, mustard powder, paprika, garlic powder and onion powder. Mix well. Add in water and bouillon cube (chicken or beef). Let everything simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Pour in Worcestershire sauce, ketchup and tomato sauce into the saucepan. Mix everything together and simmer on low heat for 20 minutes, or until thickened.
Slice the King Hawaiian Rolls horizontally. Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
In a bowl, combine melted butter and granulated garlic.
Use a pastry brush to coat the tops of the rolls with the garlic butter. Bake at 350F for 10 minutes, or until the tops are a golden brown.
Remove the tops of the rolls. Spread the sloppy joe mixture evenly on the bottom rolls. Top with shredded cheese and place the baking sheet under a low broil until the cheese is melted.
Cut into each individual slider and serve. Enjoy!
