Ingredients


  • 1/4 cup butter, unsalted

  • 1/4 cup flour

  • 2- 1/2 cups boiling water

  • 1-1/2 teaspoon powder (or 1 cube) beef bouillon

  • 1 packet onion soup mix

  • 1/4 teaspoon (adjust to your liking) black pepper


Directions:


  1. In a bowl, whisk together the boiling water, onion soup mix, and beef bouillon powder.


  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, add the butter and allow it to melt completely. Add in the flour and whisk for 3 minutes until the roux becomes golden.

    Notes: If you prefer a darker roux, cook for an additional 3 minutes until a deeper golden brown.


  3. Pour the liquid mixture in 2 portions into the saucepan, whisking consistently for about 6 minutes until thickened and smooth.


  4. Pour into a gravy bowl and serve hot with dinner. Enjoy!
